Opportunity was a rover that NASA sent up to explore MARS!!! It was only supposed to last three months, but it ended up lasting almost 15 years. It was like the 'little rover that could'. So NASA just kept sending up more missions for Opportunity to go on, and Opportunity kept sending back more information so we could grow as a planet, and a people, and a species.
It was in February of 2019 that Opportunity got stuck in a dust storm on Mars, and Opportunity died. The last message Opportunity sent to earth was "My battery is low and it's getting dark." ... which is pretty deep, for a robot... NASA responded by sending Opportunity the Billie Holiday song, "I'll Be Seeing You". This is not that song... but it is a song that I wrote for and with Opportunity.
As far as I know, this is the only song that has been co-written with a Mars rover...

The second song is written in the tradition of old medicine show music. It praises the life saving benefits of Narcan which when used as directed, can stop an opioid overdose.
The third song is about a drunk whose own guardian angel has given up on him.
All together I’m proud of this short project. I’ve been playing these songs on tour through the southeast US to positive reviews, so I took the couple days I had off to record them in Cape Coral, FL.
Thank you for listening and giving me a reason to keep plowing forward with my work.
